    Meet your clinicians

Medical weight loss works best when your care team looks at both the clinical and nutrition side of the picture. Dr. Patrick Harmon and Julie Wendt bring that combination to this program, helping you understand what may be affecting progress and what practical next steps fit your health, treatment plan, and daily life.

    Julie Wendt, MS, LN, CNS

Julie Wendt is an integrative nutrition specialist with advanced training in functional and medical nutrition. Potomac Psychiatry highlights her work in gut-brain health, weight management, therapeutic diets, lifestyle interventions, and nutrition plans shaped by medical history and laboratory findings.

For you as a patient, Julie brings the practical side of change into focus. She helps translate symptoms, lab results, and health goals into nutrition and daily routines you can realistically follow, so the program is not only clinically informed but also easier to use in everyday life.

Patrick H. Harmon, M.D., MDiv, DMin

Dr. Harmon is board-certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. His background in diagnostic assessment, ongoing psychiatric care, and collaborative treatment planning brings important medical perspective to a weight-loss program that looks at the whole person.

For you as a patient, that means support from a clinician who can evaluate how mood, stress, attention, sleep, medications, and nutrition may be affecting weight and daily function. His Root Cause Psychiatry approach fits this program’s goal of understanding what is driving symptoms instead of treating weight in isolation.

Precision Nutrition Weight Loss Program: A Root Cause Approach to Weight Management

Struggling to lose weight despite dieting and exercise? Potomac Psychiatry’s Precision Nutrition Weight Loss Program looks deeper at the factors that may be holding you back, including metabolism, genetics, nutrition, sleep, stress, and medication effects.

Guided by our Root Cause Psychiatry® philosophy, we combine a personalized assessment with targeted testing when appropriate to build a weight management plan around your unique biology. With individualized nutrition guidance, physician oversight, and GLP-1 medication support when appropriate, we help you understand your body and build a practical path toward sustainable weight loss and better metabolic health.

Why choose Potomac Psychiatry for medical weight loss?

Our Root Cause approach is designed around you. We look at sleep, stress, habits, biology, and life circumstances that may be affecting your progress, then use that information to guide practical next steps.

Potomac Psychiatry has been recognized by the GHP Mental Health Awards 2026 as Best Mental Health Genetic Testing Specialists 2026 – Mid-Atlantic USA and Global Pediatric Psychiatry Practice of the Year 2026. These awards recognize the practice and team, not guaranteed program outcomes.

    How the program works

Step 1: Start with a clinical and nutrition review

We begin with your goals, health history, routines, symptoms, and current treatment plan so we can understand what may be affecting weight, appetite, energy, and follow-through.

Step 2: Identify what may be getting in the way

We will recommend relevant testing and a closer look at sleep, stress, food patterns, medications, and other clinical factors that can influence progress.

Step 3: Build a plan you can use in real life

Using your health history, current biomarkers, and health goals as the foundation, we build a personalized plan with clear, practical steps for meals, hydration, protein, movement, and daily routines, with optional medical support when clinically appropriate.

Step 4: Adjust your plan with ongoing support

Follow-up support helps you make changes that fit your life, track what is working, and refine your next steps over time.
