Success Over Stress (SOS)
If you answer yes to one or more of the following questions, then you may want to consider Potomac Psychiatry's stress management program:
- Do you feel stressed out?
- Do you feel that there is just too much to do and you’ll never get it done?
- Do you feel anxious or sick due to stress?
- Are you irritable and easily frustrated due to your high stress levels?
- Are you feeling consistently overwhelmed?
- Would you like to learn strategies that you could apply to your life to reduce your stress load?
- Cognitive strategies that teach you how to recognize unproductive ways of thinking, and teach you alternative thoughts and behaviors that foster realistic thoughts, positive emotions and healthy interactions
- Mind-body strategies will be explored to find the ones that work best for you. Mind-body strategies can evoke a “relaxation response” that directly counters the stress response. These strategies in essence “Harness the power of your mind”.
- Physical behaviors, strategies and routines like exercise, sleep, and nutrition will be assessed and explored (additional consultations with a personal trainer and dietician can be added to your personalized program when requested)
- Relationship strategies for helping to foster positive and stress-reducing relationships will be explored. Positive and supportive family relationships can insulate individuals from stress, improve your resilience, and decrease the risk of poor emotional and physical health over time.
- Additional factors that influence your ability to manage stress will be explored based on your unique history, personality and needs.
