why psychotherapy?
There may be countless reasons behind your interest in creating positive personal change and growth in your life:
- You may know what you want but feel uncertain about how to move toward your goals. You may feel stuck in a life that feels out of control.
- You may be experiencing dissatisfaction in your personal relationships without clear understanding of what is wrong.
- You may be engaging in self-sabotaging behaviors that you want to change. You may simply want to feel more joy, and more satisfaction in your relationships.
Whatever inspires your desire for change, we are ready to provide comprehensive therapy and coaching services to assist you with your journey toward positive change and growth. We each have many years of experience helping clients with proven, practical and eclectic therapy techniques, delivered with knowledge and compassion.
There is a strong connection between your mind and body. If you are not coping well with the stress or anxieties in your life, your body will find some way of signaling to you that your life is out of balance. Physical symptoms, such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, irritable bowel syndrome, impaired sexual function, headaches, fibromyalgia, or chronic pelvic or back pain are sometimes easier for one to accept when they are viewed simply as physical symptoms. In order to treat these symptoms or conditions properly, it may be important to tease out what role your mind is playing.
It is important to implement early psychological intervention since untreated psychological symptoms may become worse and more entrenched over time. Some clients’ symptoms may improve independent of therapy; however, if there is no improvement within 30 to 60 days of onset, some form of intervention may be indicated to reduce your symptoms. With early psychological intervention a client’s suffering is more quickly reduced, promoting a faster return to healthier levels of functioning.
The benefits of psychotherapy are the following:
- to alleviate your emotional and psychological symptoms
- to reduce entrenchment of psychological problems
- to resolve your personal issues with guidance and support
- to make personal changes
- to return you to a healthy or healthier status
- to have an objective perspective and professional opinion regarding what is causing your problems and how to effectively treat them
We are actively engaged with you in your sessions, not just passive observers and listeners, and work hard on your behalf to bring understanding and relief in the context of a trusting relationship
