Geriatric Psychiatry - Mental Health Issues of the Elderly

Dr. Bruce Kehr specializes in providing warm, caring evaluation and treatment to seniors suffering from depression, anxiety, benign memory disorders, dementia, and other geriatric psychiatric conditions.

The "Biopsychosocial Model" of diagnosis and treatment
Using this detailed and thorough evaluation process, we search for the biological factors that are contributing to the senior citizen client’s problems such as health status, medications used, genetic predispositions, alcohol and drug use, nutrition, and exercise patterns. We also explore the psychological factors such as unconscious influences, emotional traumas, and "emotional sticking points" from the past. We analyze social and environmental forces such as marital and family conflicts. Finally, we probe for existential and spiritual factors to the emotional conflicts, such as major life regrets or a lack of meaning or purpose following retirement.

Potomac Psychiatry provides therapy and medication management to seniors, helping them achieve greater independence and a higher quality of life.
